I’m writing this on Friday, coming out Saturday but it’s wild to me that a) it’s the end of February and b) March 1st is tomorrow. January felt like six years and February felt like 60 seconds. So who’s to say what March will bring!
What I know for sure is that while I love a new month and all its opportunities, March also means we’re coming to the end of Awards Season.
It’s bittersweet okay! While many of us pop culture creators are exhausted, it’s also such an honor to come together with y’all every Sunday and tbh, week after week to be chatting and yapping about the red carpet looks, our thoughts and the winners, non-winners (I hate saying losers I’m so sorry lol), surprises and everything in between.
And it’s all culminating this Sunday with the Oscars! Which is going to be the coolest Oscars for me to date, as I am co-hosting the Oscars Threads Watch Party live on Threads with my pal, John Joseph.
We will be coming to you live from The Pendry hotel in Hollywood and have a few fun surprises in store! Be sure to follow along by joining our official watch party feed HERE. You can also pin it to your homepage for easy access. We cannot wait to chat live with you and bring you all the dets on Oscars night!
I know there will be A LOT to discuss the Monday after, so I’ll see you back here next week for a special Conversation Starters on all things Oscars…and then I’m off to my next adventure: Dubai!
Conversation Starters
Alex Cooper’s Unwell Network drops Alix Earle’s ‘Hot Mess’ podcast and everyone’s in a frenzy. Listen, I am going to go into more detail on this one, because I genuinely believe it’s a fascinating case study. But I have to admit – this did not surprise me one bit. Alix Earle is not built for podcasting and hey, THAT’S OKAY! If there’s one thing I can recommend to a creator/influencer, it’s that if you are really, really good at something (like Alix is at GRWMs, vlogging and YouTube) then you should double down on that platform and drive it home baby. More thoughts on this on for the Conversation Starters coming soon. Oh and ps: Dave Portnoy got involved too.
Decorated actor, Gene Hackman, his wife, Betsy Arakawa and their dog were all found deceased after a wellness check was conducted at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. At first people thought this was carbon monoxide poisoning, though that has since been ruled out. Then there is the issue of some pill bottles that were found on the scene. And now reports are stating that the bodies were likely decaying in the home for up to 9 days prior to being found. Something is afoot. And I feel like it’s important to share this, as I can see the story finding roots in the cultural zeitgeist as its a bizarre series of events that everyone’s questioning.
Donald Trump and his AG Pam Bondi, released the ‘Epstein Files’ to a bunch of right-wing, conservative influencers with a strange photoshoot outside of the White House? I add a question mark because it’s a weird thing to do when we’re talking about someone who was a known ‘PDF file’ but there’s never a dull moment when it comes to MAGA. And it turns out that whatever was shared in those “released” files wasn’t all that exciting, and they actually contained less evidence than what was readily available on the internet today. And it all lead to a quasi-civil war among the Republican party that was quickly overshadowed by this fiasco.
Here’s a sentence I never thought I’d write: Gayle King and Katy Perry are headed to space with Jeff Bezos’ fiancée, Lauren Sanchez. The two celebs are joining Lauren Sanchez – a helicopter pilot – on a Blue Origin mission expected to take place this spring. Now luckily there will be a few astronauts also joining the spaceflight because what?! Idk how to feel about this one. It makes me nervous tbh, but that’s probably why I’m sitting my ass down on earth and these people are en route to space. But mark my words, if anything happens to my girl Gayle, WE RIGHT AT DAWN!
Lewis Hamilton has had a busy 2025! From officially joining Ferrari, to being named lululemon’s newest global brand ambassador and now this TIME Magazine profile. And despite the media constantly pressing the “old man” narrative, the man is not slowing down. And let’s be real, the man is 40 in 2025 – it’s a new day and age people! We need to stop with the old man or woman narrative at 40…poor Lewis, it’s giving men in women dominated fields!
Weekend Watchlist
This weekend I am straying from the norm, because there is SO MUCH appointment television to watch. And so instead of sharing all new shows, movies and series to watch, I’m taking you through this week’s Must See TV to get to before these seasons end.
One Last Thing
Okay back to the Lewis Hamilton TIME article, I just loved this quote and felt the need to share:
“Don’t ever compare me to anybody else,” says Hamilton. “I’m the first and only Black driver that’s ever been in this sport. I’m built different. I’ve been through a lot. I’ve had my own journey. You can’t compare me to another 40-year-old, past or present, Formula One driver in history. Because they are nothing like me. I’m hungry, driven, don’t have a wife and kids. I’m focused on one thing, and that’s winning. That’s my No. 1 priority.”
